Mönchenholzhausen Saturday 5 June 2010

Saturday morning at 9 am all the team in Mönchenholzhausen meet the artists of the Culture Trail over the breakfast table. The Friday night was the first topic discussed and evaluation was made in the festival commitee.

Teatro Punto was a complete success and everyone enjoyed the play with characters and masks. The theater went to the church grounds after breakfast and did a comentary workshop where Antonio palyed the role of a hunter in a boat with bow and arrow. The people who had gathered to see him were impressed by the role change from his real character to his theater character..

The church itself was a venue for the mens choir from the Nazareth Church in Dresden. Ten men lead by their female director Anegrit, who spend their free time working on songs and bringing joy to others. In the meantime the workshops in Irish dancing and painting had begun. Robert had a few adults who are a part of an Irish dance group in Dresden and they did a complete workout. Bekir and Patrick had a whole group of children who thoroughly took pleasure in transforming the bus stop shelter into a work of art. They created the image of the Culture Trail logo with the shape of Europe and big stars where the festivals are taking place. The exhibition in the building of the fire-brigade was beginning to become an attraction thanks to the clowns who had set up their spot right next to the door to the exhibition room.

In the afternoon a tent next to the pub became an attraction, and after a further church concert with Klara and Bettina with medieval music on harps and lute, horn whistle and dulcimer, everyone met at the tent for home-made cakes and coffee. The village ladies had baked such delicacies which was accompanied by Lady Sou and the Swinging Banjoman, music for an outdoor enjoyment all round.

The afternoon program was completed with a group of five young people from Jena who all had their own literature pieces to put forward. An inter-active literature event that caught not only the attraction of many, but gave them all a new feeling toward the written and spoken word.

The evening was then opened by Bob Bales and his Unbelievable World Music Orchestra; Philippe from France, Peter from Germany, Ingo and Miguel from Spain and Jonathan from the Netherlands. The music is a mix of European rhythms with free solo parts intermingling with harmonic patterns which build the structures of the songs. Bob's vocal part is a celtic pad which breaks out into colours of rock, blues and jazz modules.

A two hour show witrh the Unbelievables was followed by a young reggae group from Erfurt. The youngsters know the works of their music and put on a party atmosphere to close the busy day and all could relax and swing to their sounds and find the time to have a glass and a chat with each other.

A late night, but a wonderfulö time for all. Mario's cooking had kept up our strength, the generosity to give us all what we want to drink, which we did not abuse, and a team of very good helpers and host families brings us to the end of another festival on the Culture Trail 2010.
